Hope I am posting this in the right forum. Guessed here cause some mechanical changes are involved.
Was just cleaning some final parts out of my Touring Sedan parts car, and had a good look at the floor shifter assembly. At first I thought it would be horrible to do, but now I am not so sure. The shifter assembly is in two parts basically. There is the shifter itself, and then a plate that it attaches to that holds the two cables in place (Shifter and interlock). It looks like there are holes already in the floor for everything, but they just use these slide on inserts that fill the holes to attach the shifter assembly two. The plate in front of the shifter has two studs that hold it on the floor, and those were welded into the floor from the factory. It looks like all you would need would be the interlock cable (probably a PITA to run through everything, but not necessarily needed, if one is careful to not start the car in gear ) and then a new shifter to tranny cable. I sincerely doubt that GM went and spent money to change the floor pan and fill in those holes between 1993 and 1995. There are 6 bolts that hold the whole deal together. Took probably 5 minutes, if that, to get everything out. (Once the console was removed, of course!).
I don't see that I am missing anything (not addressing the column issue here). Anyone have any thoughts?

Pat aka 1993 SLE and Troy Ramsrule did a swap in Troys car.

i've been eyeballing this in my lesabre, which never had a console shifter option, i'm really curious to see if the connections are on my floor as well, probably not but it is fun to dream.

Marik..I'd say the chances are good the holes for the studs are there. The studs are actually clip on pieces. Being an H...I'd think the floor pan is all the same.

after that its a matter of removing the old shorter cable and installing the longer cable thru the fire wall.
