automatic lights while in gear
Being a delivery diver I need to be able to shut my lights of on commend.. i disabled the drl now my next project is to disable the auto lights while in gear. . Any helpers?

Remove the photo cell from the left side of the dashboard.
While in daylight, measure the ohms across the photocell. Go to Radio Shack and get a resistor matching what you measured.
Install resistor in place of photo cell. That should fool the car into thinking its daylight all the time. Now the hard part is now remembering to turn your lights ON manually.

Correction on Mike, I looked in the FSM for the Bonneville a while back and the computer measures the VOLTAGE from the sensor, not resistance. Probably a similar setup for all GMs. 3.3V for the Bonneville is daylight. So figure out what you need to keep it at and get a voltage regulator. I tried the resistor thing before figuring that one out.

I've always seen everywhere that most of these bypasses use a 470ohm 1/4 watt resistor in place of the photocell.

Ok just flipped through the FSM again. The twilight delay switch is a potentiometer, so it is resistance. However, in the Bonneville if the feedback voltage is less than .09V or greater than 4.75V, it sets the condition to dark. So in theory you can calculate the proper resistor or use an appropriate voltage regulator. Both should achieve the same function.
