2002 Oldsmobile intrigue with 3.5. Litre engine thermostat

Is the thermostat and the housing unit one piece or sold separately?

From my studies at the RockAuto part photos, it looks like the thermostat insert is replaceable on its own, but it'* nearly as expensive as the full assembly with the thermostat included.

Beyond that, I have no idea. I have no knowledge of this engine.
