Who was HP certified?
My co-worker brought in his wifes HP Pavilion dv6000 Special edition for me to take a look at. Its working fine for me so far....
She says it intermittantly won't boot up or won't get very far when it will shut itself off. Powering up will often result in a clicking noise from the right side. My first thought was an HDD issue.
Best Buy is giving her a hard time reparing it under warranty saying it wa dropped. this lappy is immaculate; not even a scratch on the case or screen....
At this point I'm just looking for advice/ tsb while I left this warm up. I'm hesitant to open it up and check/reseat the connectors even though I am Toshiba Authorized and know what I'm doing. Just don't want to void whats left of her warranty.

If it has a warranty I'd just let them worry about it. Otherwise does it post at all or get into Windows?
If you hear a ticking you could be right about the HDD hard crashing. If you have a spare HDD just throw it in and format away.

It'* been my own one time personal experience that random restarts, shutoffs, and hard drive clicking is due to power supply issues or connectivity issues. I only say that because I've experienced that with my computer, and then the power supply went up in smoke. This is just my one instance with a similar situation. It may not be the solution you need. Please ensure it is cleaned of dust with a can of air, or something of the sort.

Yes its working fine for me. I just spent the last hour playing that xeno game off n on.
I've rebooted several times.
Even though she says the clicking noise is on the right side, the hard drive is on the left side.
I've got it on power supply to see how it is on that. Previously i was running off the battery.
THANKS.

Dells Notebook Warranty Policy > HP/Best Buy'* Warranty Policy
they really should replace the hdd if the laptop case is not cracked/damaged.
Regardless, notebook hard drives are cheap these days anyway....Good time to upgrade anyway right?
60GB 5400 HDD: $47

However I would strongly reccomend a 7200RPM drive, unless yours is already 7200 RPM,

Don't go through Best Buy, go through HP. I've had great experiences with HP, although Dell is a bit easier to work with. But I've worked with Dell more, if you know what I mean. (If you don't know what I mean, I'm saying that Dells break more, in my experience.)
