So, I went and had the truck washed. It was especially filthy due to sitting in the yard since May. Then I brought it home and promptly changed the oil for the same reason.

May-June-July-August-September-October-eh might as well say November now. 7 months. Now what does it mean when they say 3K miles or 3 months-whichever comes first? Last I heard, dino oil breaks down with time. Even if it is oil in a brand new engine with only 5 minutes of run time.

Its millions of years old before you get hold of it so a couple of extra years isn't going to harm it much. A lot of very short runs will damage the oil since it never gets hot enough to boil off the condensation, but just sitting in an engine that doesn't run for 6 months will not deteriorate the oil. Oil has a shelf life of up to 5 years in a sealed container, and 1 to 2 years in an open container.
