Default RockAuto needs to fix this

Hey,

Know it'* been a while since I posted. There are many between clubs I keep in contact with, a friend of mine just picked up an 00 SSEI Bonneville. He'* doing a lot of work at once, has the thing ripped apart basically. He messages me about the insane Rockauto shipping and what to do. I said it'* an ongoing issue with them. I, for one, can't believe that they stock all these commonly bought items in separate warehouses especially when they are items that are usually bought together. I'd almost call this a scam to be quite honest, I've had to go through it myself and actually they've lost some good money with them with this tactic. I can list countless companies that yes, when you place a large order sometimes have to ship from multiple warehouses but wouldn't dare double, triple, in this case, A-J charge you for shipping! I told him to make sure the boxes add up to the amount of shipping "warehouses" it is coming from, and make note of each warehouse and where the part came from. Those that may have ordered any of the parts you see in the image, please let me know when and what warehouse it came from, if you can find it. I'd like to do an investigation and see if they are doing this purposefully, and if so, told him to contact his local attorney general once we get the data together. This is not the way to treat the consumer. I've brought this up with RockAuto before and they didn't seem to give a crap, so now I'm going to do what I can to go after them.

Spark plugs, they force you to buy 8(2packs) because they come in packs of 4(for your V-6) ???

I tested a theory using commonly replaced items. Like sparkplugs, wire set, MAF sensor etc etc, and I'm still plagued with multiple shipping charges also.

I'm half tempted to go unsticky and lock our Rockauto discount code thread until further notice.

Mike, if you'd like, please investigate this further and keep us posted, I may turn THIS into a sticky.

Will do. With many years in the business and complaints about this, they should have moved things between warehouses to fix the issue, and yet nothing still to this day. It'* either purposeful, or at the very least, extreme negligence. I'd like for them to reply and explain themselves.

I started putting together a bogus list, but used the 'Choose for Me to Minimize Cost' option pretty heavily. I was 5 parts in to the list and still shipping from the same location.

I look at it this way: If a company widens there scope, opens more locations, to make sure they give you the biggest selection, and save you the most money, what is the problem. You imply they purposely do it, but there is no way to confirm this without some bigwig executive saying 'Yeah, we're here to screw you'.

I say rework the list using the 'Choose for Me to Minimize Cost' option with some acceptable alternatives, and see where you stand.

update - I've emailed them the following: (Let'* see if they care to respond here)

To whom it may concern:

I am a person who belongs to many car clubs; I have noticed your outrageous multiple shipping charges, even when they are items for the same car commonly bought together. I am starting a person investigation and many car clubs I belong to may stop endorsing you. I point you to the posting on GM Forum where you can send one of your representatives to post there as you have a vendor, and respond accordingly. You've already lost money with the shipping scam “such as shipping warehouse A-J” as the picture I posted on the forum for a friend. Let’* work together and get your business rolling again for your good and ours, otherwise it’* going to be lost business and possibly hearing from Attorney Generals as you know eBay sellers at times were overcharging on shipping and eventually a ruling was made to limit it.

Thank you,
Michael

Randall, sometimes we want other brand parts, the better or whatnot. Strut and Strut mounts should all be in one warehouse for one car, not all over the country. It would be common sense on their part. The charges are outrageous, that'* the point...I've ordered endlessly from Newegg before and they don't charge me 3 times for shipping when it ships from 3 locations. This order here, A-J, is just outrageous and unacceptable. It'* becoming a more common occurrence too.

I don't think I've ever ordered more than one part at a single time from them so I hadn't noticed

Many thanks to Michael for taking the bull by the horns on this one, as this is regarding an order that I am trying to put together with Rock. I am in the middle of a trans job which I am ordering from TEP and everything else that needs to be done was slated for Rock until I see the disappointing nearly $200.00 in shipping costs?!??! Ok, I can go over here to Advance and......ah, Free Shipping for orders over $75.00!! What a deal! So I call Rock today and say "Hey, what is the deal and what can you do" to the customer service lady, and her reply is: "Well parts in the same location will group together" among other run arounds.. . So it doesn't look like my parts are grouping together at all? I can post the entire cart if anyone is interested.

Thanks!
Eric

seems rediculas, most places give you deals the more you order. i just figure they are not the only place to buy parts, i look there and amazon, parts geek, advance is pretty good sometimes when you figure in shipping because you can pick it up in the store. rockauto has lost my business probably 75% of the time and i buy alot of parts

RockAuto doesn't own a single part. They simply have agreements with part wholesalers to drop ship parts from the wholesalers warehouses. That is why the boxes are always generic. They ship to you, they also ship to Advance Auto, etc.

There is nothing to fix at RockAuto. It is essentially a search engine for parts that also allows you to conduct the transaction to purchase the parts. You are simply getting access to a multitude of auto parts wholesaler warehouses.

I have not found anything close to Rockauto. No games, super solid web-site. I understand the different locations of parts.

RockAuto is my parts vendor of choicer.....
