Wanted!
Engine compression.
i am looking for a way to gain engine compression. i tried the engine restore stuff, but it did nothing <seriously, nothing>. i know there is no substitute for a rebuild, but i am trying to buy some time. right now, i run prolong also, just to buy more time. suggestions? i only got half the compression that it should, so any improvement will be nice.

Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. Like you admitted, there is no replacement for a rebuild. The only other "bottled" solution I would offer is Lucas oil stabilizer. I don't think it will make a difference, but if it'* your only option...

Yes the SHO performs well, but do look into it more if one is to buy the vehicle.
It may not be worth the time and money spent on the up-keep.
If the escort is giving you problems, it would not be worth the money to try rebuilding the engine. It would cost more than the car is worth, take that money and put something down on a newer car.
After having owned ford and GM, I can tell you GM is a better way to go. Not just because we are on a GM-related forum either.
My fords - 1983 Escort and 1995 Taurus.
GM - 1981 cutlass and 1999 LeSabre.
I do not own any of them now but the 99 LeSabre, my present car.

Depends on where the compression loss is. If its the piston'* compression rings, nothing you can do. If it'* a head gasket going, some SOLDER SEAL might help do the trick.BUT.....read the directions. It'* not something you can just dump right in.
