Got T-boned
But I (and everybody involved) is okay. I, as the skinny guy, had the pleasure of riding in the bitch seat (backseat middle) of a '93 Grand Prix with my brother and 3 of his buddies; we were returning from a go-kart trip (Formula Kartways, Brampton).
The driving, my brother'* friend, I guess got a little used to driving these karts that stop on a dime. Pouring rain, and we gotta make a left turn, red light for us. Can you say hydroplane?
It'* a scary feeling when you approach the intersection and you see the red light, and the big white "STOP HERE!!!!!" line pass underneath the car while it'* still moving at a decent clip. oooooooooooh ****. Glance to my left, I see headlights of a 2005 Honda Civic (I find it kind of sad that in this split second, I was still able to identify the car in the dark by just headlights). OOOOOOOOOOOOOH ****. Brace for impact.
Poor girl in the Civic was pretty shaken but fortunately it seems she was able to panic stop in time enough just to mess up her bumper/grille/front of hood a bit. Car had alloys, so probably ABS too. Headlights somehow managed to stay in one piece. Felt really bad for her, it was totally her green light.
The Grand Prix on the other hand... suffered a clean hit near where the driver'* fender meets the door. Most likely totalled. Door smashed, fender misaligned, cracked edge of windshield, rocker panel crinkled. Upon inspecting the damage I immediately thought about Matt'* dearly missed Red Deer: driver'* door popped out at the top, similar door damage, but NO broken glass.
And I'm thankful as **** that we got hit by a Civic that had some braking time. The stretch of road where this accident occurred (at Rutherford & Steeles in Brampton) is FULL of 18-wheelers who don't want to take the nearby toll highway, buses, etc etc. It'* a six-lane road with a speed limit of 80km/h, or 50mph. And that this could EASILY have been worse. I'm counting my blessings.
My first car accident too
