Yeah, I don't believe that engine could have been worth much at the time the car was crushed. Too bad. The chassis looked nice with pretty good paint.

Getting a long block out of a yard doesn't give me warm and fuzzy feelings until I get a chance to look at the donor. The manner of the donor'* death will tell me what kind of condition to expect from the parts I need.

Fork-lifting the cars is common practice around here, but cutting torches are used in place of bolt cutters. A few of the recyclers will still remove the motor with sockets and wrenches if you tell them you want the right parts (like the cross-member and all the fasteners to go with the motor...they will still carve up the framework, just a little further out.)
