1. GRAB A CALCULATOR NOT AN ADDING MACHINE. (YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO DO THIS ONE IN YOUR HEAD)
2. KEY IN THE FIRST THREE DIGITS OF YOUR PHONE NUMBER (NOT THE AREA CODE)
3. MULTIPLY BY 80
4. ADD 1
5. MULTIPLY BY 250
6. ADD THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF YOUR PHONE NUMBER
7. ADD THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF YOUR PHONE NUMBER AGAIN.
8. SUBTRACT 250
9. DIVIDE NUMBER BY 2
DO YOU RECOGNIZE THE ANSWER?
1*250 = 250, subtract 250 = 0
80*250 = 20000
20000 /2 = 10000 which just moves your first three digits over 4 digits. gasp.
last four digits of your phone number + last four digits of your phone number = 2*last four digits. divide that by two and you get... last four digits of your phone number
so in essence, that problem had you:
take the first three digits of your phone number, multiply by 10000, and add the last four digits of your phone number. 5th grade math.
