Thinking about getting a mustang.
Well I think this summer im going to get a mustang. Ive always wanted to get a 90-93 mustang gt and this summer im going to make it happen! Im not real sure if im going to keep the bonneville or sell it to pay for the mustang. Are there any members here who have one? I have a friend that works at Hillbank motorsports in cali so hes going to give me some deals on parts.

I say go for it. I have a '66 but it is in mid restoration and very different from the car you are looking at. Fox bodies are very cool when done right. There are cheap performance parts for them all over the place. There is a TON of aftermarket for them. Cheap, fast, and cool.

:-/ I got an offer to trade my bonneville for a 91 LX Hatchback 5.0, too... I turned it down (cause I want something better for an hour long commute of stop and go traffic), and have been kicking myself in the butt about it all week.

Dont kick yourself too much. I think you made the right choice keeping your bonneville.

No doubt the bonneville'* the better car, but it'd be easier to trade away than the bonne, there'* a decent demand for fox bodies out here. Almost none for large cars.

I'm pretty excited. All i do during school is look at 5.0 mag and wish they were mine lol. My friend said that the fox bodys are really easy to find out there. Hes already got some spare parts that can buy for really cheap. Hes got a manual tranny, headers, cats, spare wheels. So im going to just buy a auto since they're cheaper and do they swap, and then get it as road worthy as i can because i plan on driving it back to iowa from Cali.

Buy the manual from the start, trust me. You will be glad you did. Auto to manual conversion requires the installation of a clutch pedal, linkage, and possibly modify the driveshaft. Also factory manual cars are worth more if you decide to sell. It will be worth a little more up front for you to buy the manual than to convert it later. Personally I would want a GT, no lx. Some people are notchback fans but not me. Cervini makes some badass body parts for the fox Mustang too. Also make sure you get a mass air car, not speed density. I believe '88 was the last year for speed density and '89 was the first year for mass air.

I've had the same idea for about a year now, except not selling the body. I want to pay around a grand for a fox body that needs some work (preferably not too much interior). I just admire how little work (or should I say funding?) it takes to get the cars into the low 14s.
