High 8 Videos
I can't find my manual for my Sony Hi8/ digital combo. Is there any way to transfer from Hi8 to the card on the camera? I to this day do mot understand why there are no audio video ports on these damn computers. :?

You can download a printable version of your manual -

If you can capture the Hi8 video through the DV port you may only need a cable. A lot of the new computers have a firewire port. Laptops are usually 4 pin & desktops are usually 6 pin. The Sony camcorders are 4 pin. The cables are known as firewire, IEEE 1394 & also iLink. You can use Windows Movie Maker will capture the video
Here'* a couple links with amazing prices on the cables. The local stores want about $30. This site has them for about $12 ($6 + $6 for shipping)

Video cameras that use this size tape are getting hard to find. If something were to happen to your camera its going to get harder & harder to find a way to play these. We all need to back these up in another format.
