That'* a great deal. You're looking at around 300-500 for a decent consumer grade zoom lens, so budget yourself for that.

I have a 300D, which is slightly older and slightly bigger than that 350D. Both are excellent cameras.

ps - the canon was NOT a good deal with nearly 10,ooo pics taken and No lense. A decent lense will cost another few hundred...

That'* a nice one you got. I take a lot of pics in JROTC, and that'* one of the cameras I use, it'* an awesome camera.

I didn't see that part.

Luckily if the shutter goes bad the thing will still be under warranty. Speaking of that, how long is the warranty on that?

I didn't go for the canon I originally posted about. I went with a brand new Canon S3 IS. I got an extra 2 year warranty with it, Canon put a 1 year on it. I also picked up a 2 gig memory card and a Roots case for it. I could have gone with a leather case, but I like the material cases better than leather.

If I had the extra $$$ I would have loved to go with the 350D, it was so tempting when she gave it to me to play with. Just one click with that camera was all I needed, but I went with the S3 instead to get started with.

I am not sure how much it will really get used, plus the S3 can take video.

S3 is a great camera. You will enjoy it.
