Hi- Tranny problem 93 Bonny SE?
Hi, great club site!
Love my '93 SE red (my wife calls it trooper magnet red) bought it in 1993 used with just 16K miles. Now it has 169.5K miles! No major prior repairs other than 1 water pump. Used these days as primarly a winter car, highway driving. 5 years ago mechanic told me it only had 3 months left on engine or tranny, bought a new (now my summer) car, but guess what? He was wrong- I brought it to Pontiac to repair a year later an ABS problem and they offered me $5K on the spot for it- no sale, I like it too much.
Just repaired front wheel bearings at mechanic and two days later, transmission is refusing to shift into gear forward or reverse. Is it done for? I really don't want to get rid of it, it has been the best car I ever owned.
Help!
Nicko

Welcome.
169.5K on ther tranny is not too shabby. It will cost you in the neighborhood of 2000 to 2500 to fix the problem. The motor is built like a brick out house, just keep changing the oil.

Great News! Tranny OK
Well, got car towed to mechanic-
Turns out when they fixed the wheel bearings they left the shift cable on loose
and it came off, that'* why it won't shift gears. Once it was reconnected, good as new!
Love my Bonny - 169.5K on original engine and tranny.
Really love the site, thanks for the adivce.
