Hi
Hi, my name is Eric and I bought a 98 SE about a year ago, and stumbled upon these forums about a week ago. I'm liking the car so far and planning on improving the outside appearance of it sometime soon if money permits. I have a few questions about the car and if anyone would mind answering that would be great. First, how long do the engines seem to last? My car has 169,000 on it, and is running great, but I just want to know the average life span. Second, I've been reading about the famous intake manifold problem. I don't know if mine has ever been replaced or not, but tomorrow I have an appointment to get regular maintanence done since I have little knowledge of the mechanics cars. I'm going to have them take a look at the manifold and let me know what the condition of it is, or if it seems to have been replaced recently or whatever. If it needs to be replaced, how much do they generally cost?
Anyway, I live in salem, Oregon which is about 15 minutes away from Woodburn and I might drive up to see the races going on later this month at the Bonneville get together.
Here are a few pics of my car taken about a month ago (got a new windshield since then, you might see the giant wiper scratch, haha ), might get a new paint job in the near future. The current paint is in pretty lousy condition.

Glad to have you here. Awsome for you to show up to WCBF, you'd be more than welcome to! Car looks to be in rather good condition, esp. for the higher milage. Love that Blue I don't know mush about the UIM faliure, but the engine will last a LONG time if you treat it with care and keep up the maitnence. Seen them go well into 300,000+ miles.
Hope to see you in a coupla weeks!
regards,
John

Welcome to BC. Car looks good in the pictures. The NW (especially Oregon) seems to have a few Bonneville nuts driving around.
