What engine is in your GA, Guy? If it'* the 3.1 V6, check around the upper & lower intake manifold gaskets for leaks, but, if it'* got around 100K on it, I'd recommend replacing both the upper & lower intake manifold gaskets.

I have a 3.4 and as tar as I can tell the upper and lower intake gaskets have already been done before I got it, I just did the front cover gasket 2 days ago and it went smooth the engine is smooth and quiet, it seems to be idling a little low, I changed the pressure regulator out and the fuel filter, I am going to check the position sensor next and maybe the map sensor.

Maybe its just me Justin I do have my picks that are headaches, I have been online reading peoples horror stories about the grand ams and aleros but for me its been good so far, I did have a 98 intrigue 3.8 that one started becoming an issue because of the dexcool crap but we traded that car in.

If you are not totally sure you can set a multimeter to ohms, and touch the frame of the LIM Gasket, if it says OL then you may want to change it, if it is the proper aluminum framed gasket it should not say OL/Open Loop.

no issues with dex on a 3.8 just the same pos plastic gaskets as gm put on everything. i dont like dex but for other reasons. i dont like that body style because you have to take a bunch of other things apart to get at whatever you are working on. the w-bodies give you provisions to tilt the engine easily and h-bodies you dont need to.
