2007 Yukon XL Burning Oil
Please help. My 2007 Yukon XL has been burning oil since 50K . I have done oil consumption tests, had the engine worked on for a week at the dealer, and still we are burning oil. I am just about ready to get rid of this truck. Is there a fix to this problem? I see many other have this complaint as well. What kind of damage is being done to my engine? Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jason

you're the second person to come here asking for this within a week! what motor do you have in it? 4.8, 5.3, 6.0? and what was all done at the dealer?
what does your exhaust smell like? how much oil are you using per 1000 miles?

I have a 5.3. The dealer did whatever the service bulletin said to do, I am not exactly sure. I think I remember something about valve stems?? The truck was in for 5 full days. I am good at 1000, half quart low at 2000, and full quart at 3000. I am really worried that the engine is being damaged. At first I was told that it was "normal" I have never had any vehicle burn oil.

Some engines just burn it faster then others. For the most part, I don't worry about a quart low at 3000 miles. If your not seeing a blue poof of smoke at the start of the engine, or smell oil as driving, then your OK. Also check the spark plugs. If they are not oil fowled, then your fine.

A quart low a 3k miles is infact normal and nothing of major concern..The concern should set in if you were to start seeing alot of blue smoke from your exhaust and or any ticking knocking sounds coming directly from the engine itsself
