Ok guys so I got a p0420 code....now what? looked it up says something like the catalytic converter or o2 sensor....would that cause my problems???

That'* because of the misfire and raw gas going out the tail pipe.

Make sure no plug wires are touching the O2 sensor wire. Clean the throttle body and MAF wire.

Also pull the spark plugs and inspect them. Yuor looking for a plug(*) that look different from the rest. They shoudl all be a lite gray color, not black. Post pictures if you can.

I am sorry to tell you but my bonneville has the same problem except it will restart after it dies. Sometimes I have to give it gas but it does start. I have replaced the MAF sensor, the crankshaft sensor, the idle control valve, new plugs, wires and coils. Had the ground wire checked and my car is still doing the same thing. The mechanic says now that maybe it is the EGR valve. Good Luck
