Default For the 9005 SS upgrade guys...

For those of you that have installed the 9005 SilverStars into your cars, what are your opinions of them in comparison to the 9006? I know they put out 1700 lumens in comparison to 1000 for the 9006s, but is that noticeable? I have the 9006 SilverStar Ultras installed and they made a BIG difference, but I'm looking for more. Not the ricer look (blue) but more light output and I'm not sure I want to go the route of HID and projectors. Thanks!

I took out the */* 9006'* and put some cheap($7.99 for two) GE 9005'* in my car. The cheap GE light'* put out more light than the 9006 */*. So if you get the */* Ultras 9005'* and put them in the low beam side it will make a big difference, cant wait for the GE'* to burn out so i can get the */* Ultras in the low side.

p.*. if you think this mod will be as good as an HID, it won't be but it'* a he** of a lot cheaper.

Yea...I know that it won't be as good as HID, because HID outputs 3200 lumens compared to 9005s 1700. I'm not necessarily trying to have it as good as HID...just better than what it currently is.

You haven't had any issues with oncoming drivers?

they are good, but the passenger headlight seems to have a weird beam pattern with the 9005'*

here is what they look like

stock on the left......9005 CB on the right

No, not a single car has flashed there lights at me in 3 years. Just make sure your light'* are adjusted right and be sure the new bulbs are in all the way.

Beautiful, thanks alot for the input guys. I'll be putting in 9005 SS Ultras when one of my 9006 SS Ultras blows. I think I'll be satisfied.

On another note: I had one of the 9006'* blow last week (they're only about 3-4 months old) so I took it back to AutoZone because Sylvania has a 3 year warranty. Apparently AutoZone doesn't honor manufacturers warranties, so I would have had to go thru Sylvania'* warranty process by first purchasing a new light and then submitting the receipt to them.

Well, it seems AutoZone only carries SS Ultra'* in packages of TWO and not individually, so for whatever reason the guy changed his mind...popped open the box and gave me a brand new SilverStar Ultra for free, lol. Too bad I didn't have the 9005 idea until AFTER the fact.[/quote]
