The only things that are in common are that the displacement is 3.8L and that they were both pushrod motors. The GN motor was different from the Series I motor and the Series I is vastly different from the Series II motor. The Series II and Series III motors do use the same block and many of th S3 blocks are cast wtih Series II on them.

fiero? ugh! thats another one of those cars that i personally think just did not belong. i mean thats my opinion though. light yes, fast maybe, but no room for "lovin" on the inside and pimpin comfortably.

Vertical vs horizontal is with say a water pump pointing to the sky versus one pointing to the body of the car. I think what you mean is transverse (FWD) vs longitudinal (RWD).
