1997 gtp electrical trouble.
Hello everyone, I've got couple questions for you guys...
So I've got this 1997 gtp 4 dr, its got 150k, but it was recently in storage for about 6 months. so I take it out for a spin the other day for the first time in like 6 months and a bunch of electrical issues arose out of nowhere. So here is whats up- the entire dash is out, - the gauges, on board comp., and dummy lights still work but the illumination "backlighting" for the IP cluster, steering wheel, heater controls etc.. is completly dark. Also the tail lights are both out, the break lights work but the running lights are out - I replaced the bulbs and still nothing.. Also, the fog lights won't come on?!? I have checked both fuse boxes, interior and under hood and couldn't find a single blown fuse?!? so what do you think it could be, the only thing I can think is maybe a mouse chewed through one wire that supplys power to the dash, any help or suggestions would be awesome. I would have tried clubgp but those guys don't seem to know what the hell there talking about!
Thanks again,
Nick

Nick..Very likely it'* something small and simple. Like a loose connector to the headlight switch. All the lights you listed are controlled by it.
Seems that your switch would not be giving lighting power to anything.
And I don't want to scare you..but please see the link below for Harofreaks thread and there'* a link in there for my thread. Far as I know..95'* are the only years having this issue around here..and bonne vs GP. Worth checking out though

thanks man, I hope you are right, now where exactly are these connections at? I am unsure what you mean by headlight switch- maybe the dimmer switch? should I just pick up a new one from a junkyard? thanks again.

Inspect before spending any money. So far the only year I've seen bad switch connectors on are 95'*. However a headlight switch could have gone bad.
Where ever you could turn your headlights on by yourself. That'* where you look, that will be your switch

ok, i checked the dimmer switch, no dice... the connection was tight, but the loom of wires goes into an area i cannot access without seriously pulling the dash apart, its riveted , so what do you think I should do now? I put in a new dimmer switch as well, again no dice?!?

2 sources for light control, power.....
1) A 20 Amp circuit breaker feeding the headlight switch,
(and light control module (LCM )if so equipped) via a red wire.
2) additionally, a fuse, 6-C, (15 Amp) also feeds the LCM via an Orange wire.
both devices arenoted as "hot at all times", so they must be supplied directly from the battery
Someone else can say just where the breaker might be located. :?:
I don't know. Sorry!
