I can't believe alot of the advice here given the OP'* statements of tools available and his skill level. The best advice is to tell her the damage is severe, and that unless she pays someone capable and with the right tools to wet sand and reapply clear, it can only get worse. live with it or fix it right. There is no middle ground. Buffing that is only going to further expose more unprotected paint. Trying to put clear on top of that mess will only attenuate it. The best thing for you to do is step away from it. Otherwise all the blames will only shift to You.

i agree lol. i think ill just stick some nufinish on it and see if it does anything. it will be very far from acceptable but thats really the furthest im comfortable going atm. after that ill tell her ill cover it in dull black spraypaint and warn her it will look like garbage lol. hopefully that will sour her on the me doing it idea.

Agreed John. The paint, clearcoat, is too far gone. IMHO a repaint is only wasting money on a car she will probably give away.

Tell her that when she get a new car to use a decent sealant twice a year or wax with a decent wax every 2 months. If she uses a cheap wax than she needs to wax once a month. Her finish will last a lot longer if she keeps it waxed.
