97 cav 2.2 anti theft on i wanna perment bypass
hi i have this 97 cav i replaced the entire exhaust and when i ran it the cat went red hot twice on 2 brand new cats
after that the anti theft went on and never got off even with the 3 10 min key invervals i found out that the TDM is in the cluster for the dash and i dont wanna spend liek 1200 bucks or what not to have it fixed from GM i also bought the 200 dollar bypass from newrockies but that didnt fix it
i like to know what the 97 cav is disabling? and id like to hard wire permant bypass
i found out that reason the cat went red hot was told by garage was the coolant rad sensor telling car it was -40 and pumping more fuel in the car so even though i replaced the sensor i still cant get out of the anti theft
so i know my sisters 97 sunfire the theft light is on and she drives it so there has to be a perment way to bypass it is it 12 volts or something to the computer??? please help

Besides the key bypass, only other way to turn it off would be to have it reprogrammed. And I don't think a GM dealer would do that. Someone with HPTuners would have to do it.

well what is a hptuner? and well its a gm car why wouldnt they reprogram it?
and there has to be a way to bypass the ipc'* tdm and wire directly to the ECU so u can enable it
or even run a wire to the injectors to what 12 volts? or does it pulse? and where would it pulse from
as my sisters sunfire has to be hard wired if the anti theft light is permently on and u can drive it
so thts what i want to permently bypass this stupid idea of a anti theft
if i wanted anti theft id add it myself

HPTuners is a device/software that allows you to reprogram things on the PCM. It'* similar to the dealers Tech2.
It depends on what the anti-theft system is setup to do. On some cars, it disables the fuel injectors, or it disables the fuel pump, or it will disable the starter.
And no, you cannot just simply "bypass" the system. It'* much more elaborate than just snipping a wire, or whatever.

True Car Nut
its a 50hz square wave to the pcm'* fuel enable input normally but there are a bunch of different systems even from gm to gm. thats what the new rockies thing is supposed to do. if that doesnt do it like mike said you have to have your pcm "custom tuned" and have the tuner take the security out of it. this isnt something gm does because they will want to fix it at their ridicules rate for parts and labor. computer tunes can be from 125ish and up

hi
ic well the fuel pump works and so does the starter i used to get it started for a few seconds by flooring it and starting for a minute guess the fuel would go through so its not building pressure or i dunno but u hear the fuel pump everytime u turn key u never hear it pressureize like 3 keys on off and u wouldnt hear pump like normal here it just keeps running each time
so i guessing the injectors are disabled thats why i wanna get it hard wired was hoping i dont care if light on its a stupid idea work on ur own car and u get this BS problem and u cant swap out the damn cluster as there hook up is different from the 97 sunfire and the 97 cav
so why they make this a piece of junk
so there is no way to fix this then other then goto GM and pay the 1200?
its a stupid price i tell ya
