91 Lesabre
I have a 91 Lesabre Limited with the vin C 3800 and 460T transmission.
Fantastic daily driver. Lots of good low end torque. No rust, near perfect paint, all the options and I already have 97 bonneville seats in it fer $40/ea at the wreckers. Front and back. BUT! I got a new car I am using for work so I can play with this car now. Beyond minor bolt on mods and stereo/electrical stuff. SO...
I was wondering, I have already gotten a 465TE from the wreckers for a modest price of $250 from a wrecked GTP w/ 85,000km (pulled it myself). I was wondering what else I need to get it working. More so, what year/make/model stuff I need. Of course I need a way to control it, will any ECU from a Series I 3800 that had 460TE or do I specifically need a 465TE cars ECU. Also can I even use a electric version of the transmission with a vin C. I dont know if any of these motors were mated to one from the factory. Any help would be nice . Im not in a super big hurry, my 460T tranny is doing just fine at 230,000kms but I would like to get the trans I bought installed before I start adding power because I have a feeling it will blow up being they are finkcky at best with strain on them. I have a nice garrett T3 turbo that I ganked from my friends volvo along with the plumbing and intercooler before it headed off to wrecker heaven. =D hehehe! Well see wot my rebult motor can dew... some time in the spring, If someone can answer my tranny questions that is. I just hope I can make it work with a vin C cuz i rebult it 35,000kms ago. Though... Series II Turbo would be pretty hot. heh... one day. Ill concentrate on Series I turbo till it dies... if its doable with electric trans ona vin C.
I guess I will have to find out what to do for CV shafts too. I think the transmission side is different in a 465 isnt it? Hmm. never botherd to look. Well. Atleast this car can be up on jacks for a while.
