Default HUD Issues

It always seems that whenever I get everything fixed with my car, something else goes wrong. Probably some kind of automotive Murphy'* Law, oh well. Anyway, HUD is on the fritz, I've done a little research on the forum looking for an answer or at least someone else that might have had my problem but to no avail. I'm assuming my HUD switch as gone out as when I tap it my HUD will intermittently come on and go back out. It also seems dimmer than it used to be. All this started when I took the dash apart to take the radio out for some bulb soldering. Does the HUD switch have a cold solder within it that when I jostled it it broke, or are these switches just notorious for going out? If I need a new one any suggestions other than the dealership from which to get it?

Thanks guys

-Matt

The only problems that is the headlight dimmer switch. The HUD has its own dedicated switch.

yep, they are both seperate
you sure the problem is the switch not a loose connection on the HUD itself?

Man, I'm going to end up buying your whole dash by the end. Let me know how much you want for the HUD switch.

And Sam, I'm really thinking it'* the switch, I can tap it with my fingers and make the HUD turn off and on. Either that or the connector that plugs into the back (I'm not thinking that that theory is too likely).

I'm pretty sure this will fix you up.

Likely a cold solder joint on the photocell.

Bill, do you think it'* the actual HUD unit. The only reason I have my doubts is the aforementioned smacking of the switch in the dash by the steering wheel and the HUD will blink off and on. Although it probably wouldn't hurt to do the repair you linked since it seems to be a common problem.
