Default Rear speaker question

I will be replacing the rear speaker in my Bonnie soon. My question is, I have the SSEi and I pulled the covers located by the back glass and they appear to have a separate tweeter connected to it. Does this mean when that all I need are 2-way speakers for the rear, or would it still be ok to get the 3-way like I intended to? Currently I have the stock Delco speakers and I need something that can handle the bass from my new system. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Also are the stockers 6X9s because I do not want to get rid of the covers I have, even if it means stepping down in size.

yes they are 6x9, as for the that tweeter, i removed mine when i upgraded the speakers, i suppose you could hook it up and such, but it wont be able to keep up with any aftermarket speakers and will just distort before the 6x9 do

So would it be best to get the 3-way speakers. I was thinking about the Infinity speakers.

They are not 6x9 * but, they are close. I followed someones instruction on this forum and used a Dremel tool to make the 6x9 * fix just right. I installed Cerwin Vegas 2 ways HED * . I believe any 6x9 will fit under our grills. Would have been cool to have used those nice grills that came with the new speakers but, they would fit the hump on the rear deck. I got those awesome speakers new in box off Ebay for $54 including shipping. I love em.

A good quality 3-way should do you just fine. Infinity is a good brand IMO

Installed the Pioneer 6x9s but decided to leave the stock tweeters hooked up. Have not had any problems with distortion, but I have not cranked the system to max yet either due to the fact I still have stock Delco speakers in the front doors, but the extra tweeter in the rear along with the Pioneer 3-ways sound SWEET!!!.

which infinitys are you lookin at? i have the reference 3 ways in my bonne and i sure do like how they sound. if i could turn back time i would have gotten the 2 ways though. the three ways mid and twweter distort somewhat if there is loud bass playing, even though the low speaker can handle the bass fine.
