Please help!!! how about a diagram on some web page that show the colors of the wirers.
My problem is. I'm trying to hook up my amp using an in-line connector for the RCA'*. I'm doing this because I want to keep the stock deck and speakers. (because they rock) The in-line connector draws its signal from the stock speaker wires, and converts it to RCA. In order to hook up the connector correctly, I have to know which wire running to the speaker is + and which is -. Of cours GM couldn't lable Positive/negative, that would be to easy
If you don't know the answer please dont respond. I would like this to stay at the top of the forum until I have a good lead. thank you.

Well i don't know your exact answer, but one way to test is this: Use two short pieces of wire connected to a 9 volt battery. Touch these leads to the terminals of your factory speakers (with the connector removed). When you do this the speaker cone will do one of two things: Push away from the basket (bottom) of the speaker or draw towards it. What you want is for it to push away from it. Now that you know this, look at what terminals you have the + and - from the battery going to on the speaker. This is your polarity. Now just look at how your factory connector is, and whatever factory wire is connected to the speaker terminal you had the battery'* + connected to, that'* your + factory wire. The other obviously is your negative. Terrible instructions i know but hopefully you'll understand it. Oh also if that'* too hard to get, which it may be, look at your factory connector, or the connector on the speaker. Anywhere do you see a little letter "A" and "B"? If you do, that'* how GM labels their wires. Except the "B" terminal is your POSITIVE wire, and the "A" terminal is the NEGATIVE. I know my car has these codes but i don't know if they still did this in 2000.

thank you I'll give it a try tommaro. I appreciate the info. I figured so much: but what a lot of work. A/B helps, I think I remember seeing some letters. we'll see how it works out.
