my car sounds like a foghorn when i back up its only when i back up or after i stop really fast (emergency stopping....ya thats it) The sound it makes is like a low droan and its preety loud the e-brake is not on and the caliper is not sticking because it would make that sound when i go forward im stumped..... any help

Kid, The only thing I can tell you is to go back there, pull the rear wheels and give things a real cose up inspection. What year is your car & how many miles? Are these the oem brakes? Need more details.

Give a few more details man. Year, Model,OEM or AM brakes. But here is what I found on my 00 SE did the rear brakes and had the same groan, pulled the wheel off and bent the tin metal pad retaing clips al little bit where the pad slide into the on the rear of the vehicle, and it helped for a little while after the brake job. But it failed eventual so I went to the GM dealer and bought some OEM ones, and bingo problem solved. Hope that helps. Also take the caliper pins out and clean them up sometimes they get real hardened grease and crap on them, so take them to a gentle wire wheel on a bench gringer and clean them up the lube them up real good.

sorry guys My car is a 2000 SLE with Baer Deceler-rotar discs front and back with KVM carbon fibre pads I just did them not even 200 km ago My car has 121 728 km on it right now. My FR hub just went on it, but the GM TECH 2 says its my FL that has gone now ( FR was changed) so no ABS. I had noticed that it started to make the noise about 70 km ago. I am positive that i did everything right, so its not an installer error.
I had thougth it was either the e-brake or calipers sticking. It only does it in reverse thats why I thought E-brake. Im lost, any help

Attention:
This repair DOES NOT apply to rear brake grunt/groan, pulsation or squeal.

This bulletin is being revised to add a model and to update the model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 00-05-23-001 (Section 05 - Brakes).

Condition

Some customers may comment on a moan type noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when applying the brakes. This condition may be more prevalent during city stop-and-go or mountainous driving situations. In rare cases, this moan type noise can also occur during the first or second application of the brakes when the brakes are cold.

As the vehicle slows down from 48 km/h to 0 km/h (30 mph to 0 mph), the rear moan type noise may produce a low resonating "hum".

Cause

This condition may be due to pad vibration being transmitted to the caliper assembly resulting in a low frequency resonance.

Correction

Replace the existing rear disc brake pads with a new rear disc brake pad service kit.

The new rear disc brake pads will reduce the vibration being transmitted to the caliper assembly. Refer to the Disc Brakes sub-section of Brakes in the Service Manual for replacement procedures.
