I think mista is just referring to it being a beefed up se due to the fog light placement..lol.
2004:
SE: 3800
SLE:3800
GXP: New 4.4L v8 Northstar bla bla
And boy..speedyguy was just talking about getting 1000hp + ....crazy guy. I wonder how much that would cost, lol.

Back in the day, I've owned 350'*, 400'* and one 455. For the metric minded, that'* 5.7, 6.6 and 7.5 liters of displacement. In stock form, none of them were as peppy as the 3.8II with the SC I have in my SSEi.
I used to be a firm believer that a car without a V8 was just a waste. Now I know that a V8 is an unecessary extra. Maybe, if they used a less expensive engine, and kept the cost closer to the current SSEi, I might be more interested.
As soon as you get to 40k, or there about, I'm thinking about something a little more refined. In my opinion, GM makes some nice cars these days. But unless its a vette, I wouldn't consider a GM (or ford or chrysler) product if I had to shell out 40k or more.
Just my two cents.

Keep in mind that GM is also trying to differentiate their cars a bit more...for several years, there was no real difference between a Pontiac and an equilvalent Chevy, say. Pontiac is supposed to be driving excitement, and for many people, a big car ought to have a big engine...hence a V8.
I do know I'll have to trade up, assuming they don't foul up the body styling. The 2000+ model years are exceptionally sweet looking.
