You've never heard this A/C problem before
Hello to everyone, my first post here and I am stumped.
2002 Bonne SE nothing special, my ex-wife is sitting in it at lunch during a storm last fall, A/C on, reading a book, lighting flashes, big boom close by they didn't see it hit anything but the car shuts off. Key is on, gauges and bells show that the motor is off, she starts the car says the A/C was working and then she went in to work.
Comes out later or maybe next day before she notices A/C dosen't work. I checked the basics, wires, refrig, fine but the compressor won't kick in. We didn't worry much until now that it is hot.
I put a snap-on scanner on and everything checked out and the scanner could engage the compressor but the system doesn't recognize it so it builds up pressure and blows off at back of compressor. I even "hot" wired compressor same thing happened. I replaced the heater control module with a junk yard one that I pulled, didn't work so I got another one still no luck, so I replaced the DIM with a junkyard one, didn't help and the radio was locked out. I tried another DIM still no luck. Today I pulled the computer checked wires all over and could not find anything burnt. I can't believe lighting fried the computer or something and the ONLY thing that went out is the A/C. It has the three wire pressure switch and I tried to jump that even though the scanner said it was fine still no luck. I did notice that I could not even "hot" wire it today though. I didn't bring the scanner home so I will have to get it tomorrow.
ANYBODY PLEASE HELP!!!!! I really hope I'm just missing something dumb but I don't know where to go and start next.
Thanks to everyone
Spence

The car is isolated and an electrical current traveling from the ground into the car through rubber tires aint happening. The car probably shut down because all the knock sensors on the motor detected all hell breaking loose, and did what'* it was suppose to and the car just stumbled to off.
I would replace the pressure switch and then check the compressor clutch and adjust.

Well you guys were right the pressure switch was bad. Then I had a problem with the wiring at the compressor, the fitting on the compressor had been cracked from a belt blowout awhile back and with the movement I guess it broke. I got it to work for now but I need a better solution. I thought I might epoxy the connector to the A/C pump and just cut it off if the pump ever goes bad.
Thanks for your help, my scanner kept saying there was no "A/C request" which is why I started with the module and then the DIM but the switch fixed it.
THANK YOU all
