96 Bonneville tranny
Hey guys,,,,first off let me start by saying,,,,happy thanksgiving to all.....
Just surfing around on my repair forums, and as I look at the buick Rendezvous forum for my wifes car, I read a post that had a problem with the shifting of their rendezvous and someone stated that the wiring may be rubbing or wires broken....They checked that and yes, that was the problem.....broken wires. easy fix, and no cost.
Well I guess I am just grasping at things..... My 96 bonneville has problems shifting, transmission shop says that the shift solenoid A, code that is being thrown is wrong....That there is nothing wrong with the shift solenoid A. Could my car have something wrong with the wiring somewhere.....How do I find where the wiring goes down into the transmission??????

If I remember right, the 96 has a vacuum line going to the trans and that'* part of the shifting. Check this line and replace. See if that corrects the problem.

The vacuum modulator on a 4T60E basically controls line pressure and shift feel. It doesn't really have anything to do with shift timing, but it can make the trans do crazy things.
I have had solenoid codes that were incorrect. Once we got the side covber off, we found that a differnt solenoid was burnt. I don't understand why it threw that code, but it did.
BTW, there are 2 types for solenoid codes:
1-Electrically generated. If it is an electrically generated code, it may say "circuit" in the scan tool description. If so, your poblem is either: A-Solenoid; B- Wiring or C-Computer.
2-Performance codes. If you have a performance code, either the solenoid has failed mechanically or whatever componant that the solenoid controls has failed.
Please let us know the code # and description.

Hey Gearhead,, The number that the code reader is throwing is P0753----- SHIFT SOLENOID A CIRCUIT ELECTRICAL.
Had it checked at a transmission shop with their machine, and they say it is working fine....
Any ideas where to go from there?????

You need to do a resistance check on ALL your solenoids. The trans may still operate. but the computer may not like what it sees, so it sets the code. Do this at the computer and at the case connector
Does the lockup converter work? Sometime it is hard tell. As I said before, I also have seen a burnt lockup solenoid set a solenoid A code. I just wish that you were closer.
If everything checks out, you may want to run a jumper wire from the ground side of the solenoid back to the computer. That would be the only wire in question as the positive side feeds all the solenoids and you only have 1 code.
