Clunking in the tranny?!

Clunking in the tranny?!
Well, I figured out the resistance for my keys and got the car started today... so here comes a whole new can of worms... LOL..
First and foremost, what does everyone make of this... When the car is idling, not in gear, there is a quite prominant clunking from the tranny... not a consistant sound at first, but it will level out and clunk in time with the engine.. when its revved, it will get louder and harder (go figure... ) ... but, the strange thing is, when the car is in gear, the clunking goes away...
Problem 2.. the car will only rev to about 3500, then the fuel or spark cuts out for a second... almost like a rev limiter, but slower, and I'm unsure if this is related, but the boost presure will not go to 0 even at higher rpm when the car isn't in gear, but when driving, the boost works fine, and I'm not sure what rpm I had the car up to when I took it for a quick spin...
Problem 3... the supercharger rattles a bit... I'm assuming that it needs an oil change by now, but is this normal?
And finally for now, any idea if I can find out when the engine was rebuilt? It has GM Goodwrench Remanufactured stickers on the valve covers, and my oil pressure is nice and high, almost at 3/4 of the guage, so I know the engine is very strong...

Are you positive the noise is in teh trans and not the engine. You would need to let the motor get up to temp for 15 minutes or longer before checking oil pressure to ensure it'* not a bearing.
If it is in the transmission.. I would think that would have to be torque converter related.

The oil pressure stays high the whole time, from start up, to operating temperature.. (the rad fans were coming on...)
I really doubt the sound is the torque converter... since it seems the sound is on the passenger side of the tranny... I'm assuming the TC is on the drivers side?

Well, I got it to a tranny shop, and he told me it was the differential... which I can see it being... it only clunks when the tranny is not in gear, ie either in park or neutral... there is no noise when turning corners, or even (yes, I know I'll hear about this) doing a burnout going around a corner.... I know these diffs take alot of abuse, but that shouldn't cause a clunking when the tranny isn't engaged...I think the guy wanted to get a rebuild out of me, thats why he said the diff...
And even if it is the diff, do you have to do a complete rebuild on the trans, or just replace the diff? The tranny feels sound...
I'm lost as to what to do with the car... I would love to drive it, but can't afford to do a rebuild on it........

If the trans has not suffered a catastrophic failure, yes you can have only the differential rebuilt. HOWEVER, if the ring gear that goes around the differential suffered damage, the whole thing needs to come out and be rebuilt. Because the only way to get that ring gear out (it is part of the parking assembly) is through the other side...meaning all the guts have to come out.

Well, I'm going to look at maybe doing it myself... but the problem is that the garage I'm at is not mine... I might have to see if I can use the shop at work to do it....I'll tear it out, take a look at it, and decide if I rebuild or not...

I seem to be having the same problem with the clunking in the tranny. Only now it'* not moving at all unless I pull it down in forst gear then move it up after it starts pulling. Could I please have some advice as to what might be the problem???

*/C rattle is just a coupling,,i had the same on my 95 ssei,,google */c rattle and you sould find a guy making this coupling for $40 beats the $1500 to rebuild everything,,the coupling is just a peice of plastic that connects the pully shaft to the blower shafts....the rattle is at idil?
