sometimes you can take apart the compressor and oil it to bring it back to life.....also it might not actually be dead.....hook it up to a 12 v source and see of you get anything...

Many cars had the ELC..even 1985+ Park avenues and such. Shouldn't be too hard for you to find a new one, and at a wrecker, probally like 20 dollars or so is what I would expect to pay..you can take them apart and beef them up slightly im sure of that..might be something worth doing?

ya i tryed to tear my old one down but got the back cover off and it was trashed inside was missing a washer between the e-clip and rod so the crank clip was just digging in to the rod side and the crank rod would not unscrew from the crank so i couldent get it all the way apart to check every thing out
