Power Window woes-how come they ALWAYS crap out in the down position!!!
'95 Olds 88. Left front and left rear widows will not operate. Worked fine this morning. All the right side window work fine. I traced the power wires into the switch and things are ok there. I am getting power to the window motor, both up and down when using the switch but the motor dosen't make a sound (I pulled the door panel off to get a look see). Absouletly no binding in the tracks and everything looks OEM inside the door.. I have no problem putting in a new motor but it seems strange that both on one side would crap out at the same time. Just lucky or am I missing something?

With the distant rumble of thunder, I jumped out of bed rememering my window was down. Grapping my plastic sheet and duct tape I sping into action to cover the window before the storm hits. Just for grins, I pop the key in and start the car and hit the window button, the window smoothly rolls up!? I hit the back window button and it works fine. I play with both windows all the way to work and nary a problem. Now I am confused.

Chances are the brushes in the motor are shot. I just did my wifes window motors. You should be able to get new ones at www.rockauto.com
