Good info. That is what the owners manual for the Bonnes says too.

The question is...Can it be programmed to unlock?..automatically?..while the car is still running?

As far as I can tell, the ONLY way the automatic "unlock" feature will function, is with the key in the OFF position..car NOT running. I suppose someone with some electrical knowledge could figure a way to overide the ignition input to defeat that portion of the system, but from the factory, I think we are stuck with the doors only unlocking when the key is off and the car is not running.

My cars lock and unlock with the motor running or not running as long as the key is turned on. If I turn off the key with the transmission still in drive, it does not unlock.

OK. I confirmed it.

The '97 FSM indicates that Buick LeSabre and Olds 88/LSS owners get the ability to have the doors unlock when placed in park (key OFF does not seem to matter). However, it specifically states that ..."Pontiac Bonneville is different from Buick and Oldsmobile... in that the key in the OFF position is what triggers the doors to UNLOCK in PARK."

Sorry, Bonneville owners...from the factory, you DO NOT have the ability for automatic unlock in park with the Bonne running.

Unless you figure some way to bypass the ignition cyliner input, the ignition must be in OFF for the doors to unlock.

Thanks Echo, I thought maybe I was going crazy or something. I think the manual is misleading then. But again the forum members have come through. Thanks for the input, while I would love to have the doors unlock when put in park, I will just have to deal with this. Wonder why the Bonneville is different, and why they couldn't have been like the Olds and Buick?
