Default Intermidtent stalling, no patten.

"95 NA Olds 88. 167k. Engine will stall and restart after 'bout a minute. No codes. Shuts down with no stumbling. First time it did it, I replaced fuel filter and things seemed to go away. Second time I dove into all connections, R&R fuel filter again, checked connections at relay. Battery cables clean and tight. Since it dies in traffic, I can't jump out and check for spark/fuel pressure. I have let it run in the driveway for hours with perodic runs around the block trying to duplicate the problem. Even took a hair dryer to the coil packs and ECM trying to duplicate a heat related electrical problem, nuthin happened. Things went well for weeks till the wife takes it out and the same problem cropped up. Stall, sit, restart. Fuel pump (of unknown brand) 'bout year old. Normal tune up items in perfect shape. No major oil leaks. Other than the perodic shutdown, engine runs very well.

Some possibilities: Bad battery cables, bad ground bus, bad ground for PCM, bad ground for ICM, bad Crank Position Sensor, bad coil, bad Powertrain Control Module.

Often, the battery cables will corrode internally underneath the molded covers on the cable ends. The covers need to be cut or peeled back and the copper strands examined. Looking at the battery connection alone is not sufficient to rule this out as a problem.

Also, rule out the fuel pressure regulator by pulling off the vacuum line to the FPR and checking for gasoline immediately after shutting the engine off. If you see or smell gasoline, the FPR is leaking and needs replaced.

Check the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor. I had the same problems just like you did, but my car would STUMBLE and stall like crazy until I replaced it. It cost me $173 though.

There are many sources associated with stalling as Bill mentioned.
I find the most frequent are bad battery connections, grounds, and sensor connectors that are dirty or the sockets have loosened up.
My guess is the ICM connector has a corroded pin. Put the connector on and off a few times then tighten up on the socket prongs getting under them with a tiny screwdriver.
Then see how it goes,
