Engine blew up...debris in intake.
Hello all,my question is, I've had a total engine failure and when I went to remove the lower intake manifold under the supercharger I noticed that there was metal debris strewn throughout the manifold. Can I clean out the manifold and re-use it on a new long block without risking destruction of the new block, or should I source a replacement manifold and not risk it.
Any thoughts?

what was the failure?
When my valve spring broke and caused a valve to drop, I had metal shavings in my LIM
You should be able to clean out the LIM and reuse it. Castrol Super Clean works best.
Don't forget to use the new aluminum LIM gaskets on your buildup

Thanx for looking guys. Here are some pix of the debris inside the manifold. What happened was the cam broke, ripped a piece out of the cylinder wall and shattered the piston. There'* even a little bit of debris in the supercharger that I'm going to have to remove
by taking it apart.

I would assume those are pieces of either a valve or a piston.
As was said, I'd think you could reuse the LIM...just be sure it wasn't severely damaged in whatever runner(*) goes to the failed cylinder(*), and make sure you get every single piece of loose metal shaving out.
You didn't mention, but have you looked at your */c rotors and the rotor bores in the casing? :?

My advice is to assume the worse with that much trash inside the motor. I'd be looking for an entire replacement motor. You may be able to salvage some parts off the old grenade, but you got to inspect every inch of every part to ensure you got all the trash out and discarded all the damaged parts.
