Default Strut Bearing?

I have a loud clunking/popping sound when I turn the wheel coming from the right side front. I just finished installing a new wheel bearing a short while ago and now this. I inspected the swaybar and endlink look good. After searching a ton of posts I am thinking it is a strut bearing. Any thought and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

May be the strut bearing, but also check out the tie rod end and ball joint. You don't want those coming apart while you are zipping down the road.

Default strut

remove the underhood dust cover, turn wheels all the way to the right, and apply 90w gear oil to the four exposed holes. if the clunking stops it was a dry bearing surface.
I did this a couple times at every oil change and my clunking stopped altogether.

Well, I changed the tie rod as it was worn. However, that was not the problem. So I removed the dust covers and had someone turn the wheels, and after listening and feeling I am convinced the strut bearings are not the problem. It seems to come from right near the axle. I am going to take it to a front end shop to see if they can figure it out. Thanks for you help thought guys

Default strut

the noise on a faulty upper strut bearing does not come from the bearing itself, it comes from the coil spring turning on the mount. Kinda makes a boing, - if I spelled that right. Booong>?

Well I found the problem. It turned out to be a defective brand new wheel bearing. Infact two defective wheel bearings.

Heres a quick summary
Pulled the worn bearing due to noise
Installed a new unit and cracking noise started
Removed new unit and installed a second new unit, cracking problem still there
Removed second unit and installed third - Problem Solved.

I have changed these damn things so much I could win an Olympic event changing them. lol

So in summary stay away from cheaply made Made in China parts.
