i would change uim asap. i work in a shop and had to replace a motor in a 98 park avenue cause the uim leaked and bent the connecting rod on the middle rear cylinder.cost the customer 1900 to fix the car. with a rebuilt long block

The initial problem was the tb gasket. and as far as if its the original UIM, I will check. I did take a dental pick to the EGR area and it was very solid, no holes or cracks that I can see. regardless, $80-$100 for peace of mind is a no brainer. Also I know the car had DEX in it when I got it in 2000, I did flush it out and have used the Prestone in it since the first day I owned the car. I am willing to bet that I do need new LIM gaskets as well. Thanks for your input gents, you guys rock!

well I put in a new radiator 3 months after I got the car so probably not. when I first bought the car and flushed the system, yeah there where chunks of snot in the cooloing system. I bought the car from the service station I used to work at part time. I also know the original owner of the car so thats how I knew it had DEX and I never trust anything that is labled extended life. Hell I use Royal Purple oil and change it every 2500 miles.
