Default Massive KR?!?!

I am getting up 8° of KR on the White Bonnie!

Plugs and wires were changed April 06; GM wires and AC Delco Iridium plugs (.060)

Stock pulley on the */C.

The cat is at most 6 months old - it'* a magnaflow.

The fuel filter is about 3 months old.

The O2 is maybe a month old - AC Delco O2

Stock PCM

:?

The only thing that does come to mind is that the higest octane gas that I can get in Alaska is 90 proof. I only run the Chevron Supreme.

I also only get about 28 MPG on the highway :(

Any Thoughts? She runs GREAT and it scared the crap out of my GF while she was up here (hehehe ), but I don't want to damage the engine.

TGIF!!!!

Burning any oil? PCV stuck open?

Try some top-end seafoam.

Remember (you probably don't ) back in the carbureted days, when you shut off the car and it would run-on or diesel? That was from fuel still trickling out of the jets, and was ignited by carbon deposits in the cylinders or on the valves. They act as glow-plugs, and get hot under compression even without boost. Eliminating this as a possibility is fairly easy and can give you some peace of mind.

8 degrees is a bit more than I'd expect from 90 octane, especially in your cold conditions. You COULD be running slightly lean from the colder denser air, too. How old is the O2? Lean can cause KR also.

That O2 was put in back in Jan or late Dec 07. The one that I had in there before it was a AC Delco as well.

I will get some sea foam and get that done today. I do remember deiseling, lol, and never thought about it being a potiental problem.

I have new plugs, Autolites Iridium XP 606'* IIRC that I bought yesterday, along with a new fuel filter. The car is getting a full tune-up. Still ned to get wires yet. Napa was out of Belden'* for me.

I will take pics and report back on what I find

Thanks for the reply Wren

Where are you gettign all that KR? is it during exceleration WOT all the way up, or are you only seeing spikes of KR at the shift point? I had spikes that high right at the shift points, then i installed a high performance shift kit and it went away.

I get it when the boost gauge is at -2.5 and up, but only until ~3500 rpms.

When it labors is when it'* real noticeable and at peak degrees :?

I seafoamed the snot out of it yesterday and then dumped a can into the gas tank - it seemed a little better yesterday, but i did not have the aeroforce running.

I still need to go and get my wires (they should in today) and get the plugs, wires and fuel filter in.

Still the weekend! Lets do some grillin'
