Default The dreaded ECC temp display flash.

Yep, my '95 SSE non-supercharged has the ECC temp display flash.

I start the car, it flashes for a long while, then stops.

As far as the ECC goes, nothing works. No AC, no heat, no blower, no defrost, I can't hear any heat flaps/doors moving, no anything. Totally dead.

I'm completely in the dark here. Any help is appreciated.

Mine flashes from time to time, but I never have an issue with anything working... Maybe your ECC is on its way out?

Im sure someone here has a little more insight as to the issue

With zero response, I'd have to assume it'* either the ECC or HVAC programmer. But without codes, guessing is pointless.

You need a dealer to pull codes.

Great. I don't think I'm taking my $500 beast anywhere near a dealership though. I guess I was hoping that the flashing itself was some sort of code.

I may just try to hunt up a new unit at the junkyard and see if that works.

Thanks for the help all.

Would it be possible to replace the ECC controller with a standard HVAC dash unit? I'd assume not, but maybe there'* a possibility.

No..you really can't feasibly change it without rebuilding most of the car.

Let'* start off with the basics. Have you checked all the fuses under driver side? Maxifuse relay area? I had an issue with my ECC being blank and dead. Removing and reinstalling the main fuse for the AC reset it and fixed my issue.

Being that you have no response from it at all..I'd wonder if the HVAC programmer was getting power.

My gut would point to the programmer as well. See if it'* even connected.

I did check the fuses and relays. The ECC unit is actually getting power, as the display works just fine...it'* just that the thing won't DO anything.

I assume the programmer is in the dash with the ECC?

It'* above the hushpanel above the passenger'* feet. Under the glovebox. Red connector. Vacuum lines (different colors). You can't miss it.

It has all the pretty colored vacuum lines going to it. Between the corregated hose and the white plastic piece in this picture.
