Default My continuous TCC problem?

Okay had/am having this problem with my TCC not disengaging at stops, thus dieing or almost dieing... and my transmission doesn't like to switch back and forth between drive and overdrive (maybe somewhat normal), like actually switching the between the two on the gear selector without restarting the vehicle. It wants to stay in drive.

I had a custom intake on my car that let it breath really good, but I recently switched it back to the stock air box incase I want to sell my car. With the custom intake I had absolutely not problems with my TCC operation (as far as I know), but the next day after switching to my stock box it started messing up again. Could this be in any way related? Oh yeah my mileage isn't as good as it was either.

I got to error codes without SES lights. The manifold air temp sensor is reading low and problem with TCC. I replaced the MAT sensor a couple months ago. I wouldn't think a cold reading would have much effect, but I suppose it could make my mileage be off a little.

I am thinking that either my brake switch, solenoids that control fluid to TCC, or my clutch altogether is going out, but I don't know if or why the custom intake had anything to do with it. Does it sound like anything more serious?

Any thoughts, ideas, or comments are welcome and greatly appreciated.

Well, I think a great deal of my recent problems have been due to the gasoline I was buying. The gas I've been buying must have water or something wrong with it. I went to Phillips 66 and I haven't had problems since, but nevertheless my car still shouldn't be bringing problems up with my TCC.

So could it be my clutch itself or does it sound like a brake switch or soleniods?

Is it possible that you bumped the electrical connector on the top of the tranny on the driver'* side when you were replacing the air box? A bad electrical connection could also cause tranny problems.

If that connector got "bumped" it would just quit engaging, right? I remember disconnecting it in an old Cutlass Ciera once just so I could limp it home without stalling at every expressway offramp.

Might be useful to check the brake switch, though. If the plunger fails to disengage the TCC circuit when you step on the brake, that would cause some interesting moments while driving...

Such as my car dieing at stops... well perhaps more dieing after accelerating out of stops. Have any information on where the brake switch is, remove/install instructions? I think they are cheap.

Look above the brake pedal. You'll find a couple of plunger switches there. Between the two of them, they handle brake lamps, cruise control cancel (including a vacuum line purge so that the cruise vacuum diaphragm will release the linkage) and TCC solenoid release, among other things. You'll need to see which one does what; I can't recall.

They do need to be in adjustment, too. I think you should find that each plunger has a small notch across the end. They're in proper adjustment when the brake pedal holds both plungers in just far enough that only the notch is visible. (i.e. the plungers are not supposed to be slammed all the way into the body of the switch, just _most_ of the way.)
