This should open up alot of possibilities for you:

Other than that, in order to make your steering wheel controls work with an aftermarket system, it MUST have an IR remote, and you have to install the SWI-X gizmo. A real PITA. I've done it once, and I'll never do it again.

Try to get one that is as new as possible. They used the 99 Bonneville radio in some other Pontiacs thru 2001 or so. The earlier ones (94-95, etc.) look the same but can't always play the CD-Rs.

In my 99 I have the stock stereo with tape player. I'd like to upgrade it to a CD player, but I'm not sure if the steering wheel controls will still work if I buy a stock Bonneville CD player from a 95-99. Does anybody know for sure if it'll work?? I don't want to go through the hassles of installing the interface module just for another stock stereo. If I have to do that anyway, then I'll just go with an aftermarket CD player. Thanks for the advice.
