93 SSEi trans concerns
I have not picked the car up yet, so I cannot verify anything as fas as what is wrong with this car. All I know is that the guys says that the transmission acts funny. SO, with that said, what would be some of the "common" issues with these transmissions that would make the car shift funny?
Here is my list...feel free to add to it.
1) Plugged cat converter. When I get the car, I will check this by dropping the pipe. May just chuck the entire system altogether.
2) Sticky solenoids. Which trans additives have had the most success in unsticking them? I will do a fluid change afterwards.
3) I saw a post that mentioned the TPS, so I will check that too.
UPDATE: Just spoke with the owner....everything works as it should for 15 mins from cold start, so I think the fluid is worn or something else to that effect.
***********
Any other input?

Posts like a Ricer Type-R
Worn 2nd gear clutches, pinion gear shaft broken or loose, TC shot, friction material rampant in the fluid.
Lots of things are possible.
Miles? Condition? Ever Rebuilt? It'* all guesswork at this point. But heat related problems like you describe do generally point to a full rebuild within 6 months.

Mileage is in the 140s, unknown if the trans has been rebuilt in the past or not. I am going to assume that it has not been. I will know alot more tomorrow when I pick the car up.
