Front end shaking
I bought some new tires about 2 months ago(Tiger Paws). My stock tire size is supposed to be 2156016'*(which have never been on the car since I've had it--3yrs now). bought it w/2256016'* so I stayed w/those. My old tires which were goodyears were fine--no shaking, but since I've had these new ones on I get shaking! First it shook starting at 50 mph--had them rebalanced and now start to shake at 60 mph! Annoying!!! They are static balanced(weights on the inside)but so were the other tires, so I don't see how this could be the problem.
Could there be another problem w/the front end that would cause it to shake at speed like that? Other then the tires?
I just bought 2 new tires to put on my frontend(different brand)to see if that solves the problem--needed them anyway. :?

I'd have the tires checked for out of round (can't do that staticly) but a shake/vibration as you mention is *sometimes* (just one possibility) an indicator of an impending tread separation.
Have 225x60x16 Michelin X-Ones on Bonne and Reatta and are very smooth.

wood block your rear tires, e-brake it, and jack up your front end. start your engine and pop it into nuetral, your tires should spin, if not pop it into drive for a sec then back into nuetral. Then check for roundness of the rims and tires as they spin. This is how i check mine and my dads. Ive found that the really cheap tires i have ($31 Futura 755) are no where near round, but somehow when properly balanced and a round rim, i have no vibration. Good luck

static balancing is not a good way to do it. also you may have a belt shifting inside, does it shake the steering wheel or your seat? try rotating them to the back and see if it changes. you may have just got some bad tires, and if they are at a discount store, they are usually seconds.

also , this may sound stupid to ask, i see you are in NJ/PA, i guess near philly, with the weather that we have been having the past few weeks and not really getting about 20* on a good day, you may just have some snow stuck on the back side of the rim. this will defintly cause a vibration. you wouldnt believe how many customers i have come in and say about a vibration and that they want an alignment to fix it,
with a vibration, the first 2 things i do is get the car in the air and shake down the suspension and check for worn steering and suspension parts. second is pull the tires of and see if anything is on the back side of the wheels, you wouldnt believe how many times there has just been snow or mud stuck fast to the back side of the wheel, when it does get there, and you are going down the road, the centrifical force of the wheel spinning packs in onto the rim.

I have shaking coming from the steering column--not feeling it in my seat. I even had this problem w/no snow on the ground. Also--I checked before for dirt or debris in the rim and there wasn't anything in there.
What rontend suspension pieces would cause this if it wasn't the tires?
Also-as far as I know Tiger Paws aren't really a cheap tire--they were like $80 a piece from BJ'*(seems to be a decent tire but anything is possible I guess).

the best way to check the tierod end is to grab the wheel in the front and back and see if it has play in it. i have seen an inner turup joint in a halfshaft go bad and cause a vibration, but its usually noticed at low speeds too. sounds like you need to take it somewhere else and have them rebalanced
