Cool My engine swap (pic heavy)

Bored tonight so I figured I'd post some pics of my engine swap in my Silverado.

The day it all began. 2005 Cadillac CTS-V decides to drop the intake valve in #8.

$9000 LS6 longblock

Let the fun begin, rebuild time!

Yes I did this in February in my garage at home in -30 below temps. You know you're Canadian when...

Okay ole 4.3L, out ya come!

LS6 assembled and ready to go to her new home. Complete with brand new CTS-V accessory drive and shiny Edelbrock headers

She'* in!

First time back on the pavement in 3 years.

I fully and thoroughly agree with this swap. An LS6 with a 5-speed is amazing. What I'm getting from this is that you just got a CTS-V'* engine? Or how much did you buy it for? Either way, congrats on the awesome swap. Very clean work, and I like your cam too.

The engine was going to scrap because there was no core on it if I wouldn't have popped the head off to check out the destruction. No one could believe the cylinder wasn't damaged. The face of the valve broke off and wedged sideways dead center in the piston and the stem was in two pieces in the intake. So the only destruction was the one piston and cylinder head. Still cost quite a bit to rebuild with new heads, intake, all new bearings, 1 new piston and rod, the cam, motor mounts/frame mounts, clutch kit/flywheel, starter, engine harness, injector pigtails, ECM from Nelson, rad and heater hoses, E-Fan, Corvette fuel filter, and all the other countless little items that add up required to do the swap. Would I do it again? Hell yeah, can't wait to find another project truck! This time I'd like to do an S10 Xtreme with a similar engine setup. Still have lots of plans for this truck though, will probably swap heads for ported and polished 243 heads by the end of the year with a little more aggressive cam. Going to keep the sleeper look though.

Not sure how long my transmission will last as it'* only a NVG3500 rated for 280lb ft of torque and I'm pushing probably at least 450. I don't drive the hell out of it all the time though, as hard as it is! LOL. Once it grenades it'll get the T-56 6-spd Camaro transmission.

Cool, I suspected it was some mix-up over what was damaged. That must still have been an expensive swap, yes, but as you also say it'* totally worth it. Very good work overall!
