Can't remember if I've ever posted a pic of my truck or not. So here it is, 2000 Silverado, regular cab short box, 2wd, used to have a 4.3L V6 with the 5 speed, it now has a built LS6 Corvette engine with a good sized cam, different heads, Nelson tune, etc. Haven't had it on a dyno but I estimate it at around 470hp at the crank. Gonna take it over to the track next month, hoping for low 13s! We'll see... once the 5 speed grenades it'll get the T56 6 speed manual with 4:88 gears, no way she'* gonna go auto. Anyways, it'* a fun truck, gets lots of looks at the stop lights with the lumpy idle and accidental tire chirp you can hardly avoid when you let the clutch out.

There is an upgrade kit available for the T56 you will want to invest in. Forged shift forks, bronze wear pads, Timken bearings, etc. You also should invest in a bullet proof bellhousing if you are going to take it to the track. You don't want a blown clutch taking your right foot off.

Yeah I know all about the upgrades for the T56, I'll do the shifter relocate so the shifter won't be sitting beside my right arse cheek, moves it up close to the stock location on the 5 speed. I'll get a McLeod scatter shield so if the clutch decides to grenade it won't amputate me. Then I'll have to upgrade to at LEAST 4:56 gears with the 0.5:1 6th gear ratio. I think there'* one with a 5.3 that runs 70mph at 2000rpm with 5:12'*, which is right about where I want. No word of a lie this truck now gets approx 28mpg instead of 19mpg with the 4.3 and well over double the horsepower at your right foot.

the 4.3 is useless for a half ton, when the 5.3 gets better mileage.

the tire diameter matters a bit on the ratio too the trucks usually have a bit taller tires so they can have steeper gears than the cars.

The V6 was half decent in my truck because it was just a short box 2wd with the 5 speed, it kept up with dad'* long box 4x4 with the 5.3. Always wanted a LS motor in it though and finally have one!
