kidding! A tripod is always a welcome addition to any collection. Especially for shots like these. Wider angle = less shake, as a rule of thumb.

Finding a ledge to set the camera down can yield pretty good results too.. and is f-r-e-e

Surely you have $20 to spare, thats what I paid for mine. It doesn't have to look amazing, just had to hold still.

I used that free ledge for the first picture. Excess shake probably happened since the wind wrapping around the building was so damn cold as well.

As for the license plate lights, I know they work, but perhaps only when in gear? I'll have to check that.

I was half kidding about buying a tripod. I'm taking my camera purchases very slow, heck I still owe Jerry if I want that beercan in my hands.

So, as a lesson, cold wind, low light even with image stabilization working like mad will result in blurry pictures. :(

Well I've just recently seen a video where guys are making their own tripods (or not tripods at all, rather... image stabilizers). It'* pretty stupid looking, I'll admit, but it seems to work perfectly. Cheap but effective! I'll try to find it...

Here ya go!
