Snow and a new camera

Just got a 3.2MP Canon A75. I took these this morning after shoveling snow.

Pics resized to 1024x768 from 2048x1536. May the pic whoring commence!

ahhh my rents had a '85 SS 350 tuned port injection white, with red interior and badging, bought it in 85 as it came off the car carrier and sold it in 94 with only 5000 miles

if only they would have kept it

driverjohn2005 12-23-2004 06:08 PM

nice pics. How cold is it there?

repinS 12-23-2004 07:00 PM

-4ºC... that's 24ºF?

With the windchill, it's -12º (8ºF?).

The forecast calls for above freezing next week

Nice pics and a great camera.

Nice pics.
How many bytes per pic from a 3.2 ?

My older 2.0 MP pics are normally 400 kb on the normal setting.

repinS 12-23-2004 11:17 PM

Highest-quality, 3.2MP pics are about 1.6-1.7MB each, from the top of my head.

The next-worst quality pics are a hair over 1MB each.

It comes with a 32MB card (which I'll be using for a little while), so at highest quality, I can take about 18 pics, and the next-worst, 33ish. 8)

 Those pic sizes are huge. You won't be able to E-mail friends very many of those at one time.

You should buy at least a 256 MB card to hold a decent number of pics. 512 MB or 1G would be better.

Where do you host your pics at ? they r beautifull :)

repinS 12-24-2004 01:27 PM

 thanks for the compliments

... I host my pics on about ~20MB worth of webspace that a guy didn't need anymore on ToyotaNation.com's forums. I got lucky.

I also have 10MB of space that my ISP gives me (my sigs and general pics, etc go here), I would check with your ISP and see if they offer webspace with their email accounts, I have 3 active accounts (with the possibility for more), so 30MB in total :)

As for the filesize of each pic, the ones I posted here are resized and moderately compressed. They're half the original size, and after compression (25% in Jasc Paint Shop Pro) about about 120kb each...

Those pics are perfect. I can make out you're modle cars perfictly. Nice cars by the way. Is that Mercedes a E55 AMG?

repinS 12-24-2004 03:49 PM

Nope, just an S500.

Midnight Express 12-25-2004 04:28 AM

hhhmmmm thanks for the info I will have to check that out

aviator327 12-25-2004 06:22 AM

Here is the origional sig pic I took with my Canon EOS 10D. This is the small image size, 1536x1024 (0.8mb). The large size would be 3072x2048 (2.4mb). You will definately need a larger CF card, at least a 256mb.

Very sharp picture !!

More whoring, with vids this time:

Idling Away (Right-Click, Save Target As) 2.3MB. Burble Burble :)

I did get some "action" shots last night (inside the car), but you can't hear anything. Not from the engine/exhaust, anyway. It's all bass and stuff, not a real reflection of the car.

Right-Click, Save Target As
Part of the reason why you can't hear anything is because of the radio, I don't think my mom's conversation interfered.

I'll have better luck next time.
