My first interior mod: Cobra head shifter w/ custom boot
Well, I finally got fed up with the T-handle. Don't get me wrong, I loved the T-handle in my 'Prix, but the interior of the Bonneville is a little too modern for it, so I opted for a cobra head shifter. Unfortunately, the junkyard I frequent didn't have a leather-wrapped one, so I had to get one out of a '94 Grand Am.. that equals no shift boot, and the T-handle boot is too short. I was looking around a little and I spotted a '98 Intrigue. Tada.. real leather shift boot. I went and grabbed it, but **** was it dirty. A little Mr. Clean Multiserface cleaner followed up by some Megiars rich leather foam and it was good as new. The shifter got a good cleaning too. I cut the old shifter boot out and superglued the new ones in place. It works pretty well! Here are the pics.
The parts when I started:
A few ounces of elbow greese later:
Old boot removed:
The finished product:
As soon as I spot one, the car will DEFINITELY get a leather wrapped shifter. The boot doesn't stay up very well with this one since it doesn't have an indentation for it. Not really worse than the T-handle one was..

Want a good combination? Get the shifter from a 2k+. Beats the T handle and the Cobra head. I'll stick with it forever. Very ergonomic, right angle, and finger grooves. Shorter throw on the shift release button, too.
